The woman who died  following a road crash on Esterley Tibbetts Highway yesterday morning (Tuesday, 16 October) can now be named as Beverley Elaine Ramsay, aged 59, of Bodden Town.

The driver of the Nissan box truck remains in police custody while enquiries continue.

Just after six am on Tuesday Oct 16 a a Nissan box truck, which was traveling towards George Town, and a Hyundai van, which was travelling towards West Bay, collided on the Esterley Tibbetts Highway, close to the AL Thomson roundabout.

The female driver of the Hyundai died at the scene. She has been identified as a relative of a serving police officer. The male driver of the truck was not injured and was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and suspicion of DUI.

Traffic was held up for many hours as the Highway had to be closed because of all the debris between Bank of Butterfield Roundabout and the Camana Bay Roundabout.

Traffic was re-routed to the West bay Road causing major congestion.
