Digicel Cayman Rebuttal to LIME’s comments
Tuesday March 18th – In response to LIME CEO Bill McCabe’s comments that there has never been an issue and that LIME has never received any complaints, Digicel can confirm that, on two separate occasions, letters of complaint were issued to Bill McCabe regarding LIME’s call handling practices, one in December 2013 and one in January 2014.
Since no permanent resolution was achieved from this – and having attempted on more than one occasion to have the issue rectified without success – Digicel feels compelled to request an investigation from the regulator as it has done all that it can at its level to have the issue rectified for customers.
LIME’s statement that there is no substance behind Digicel’s claims of overcharging is inaccurate and misleading. To be clear, this is not an overcharging issue, this is a call handling issue. Moreover, LIME itself has admitted to Digicel that it has this issue as Digicel has brought numerous case examples to its attention and still continues to find intermittent examples of the issue continuing in various LIME markets across the Caribbean despite having been assured by LIME that it has corrected the situation.
LIME’s accusation of “mischief making” by Digicel is unfounded. Quite simply, this is Digicel moving to protect the rights of customers of all networks and to ensure the matter is rectified once and for all.
