Dismissal of CIAA financial controller was NOT due to suspicion of theft or any serious allegations
In an Editorial dated 25th March 2013 under the title “Airport irregularities Silence” I said “it seems incredible that despite serious allegations made against the chief financial officer of the CIAA before Christmas ………… the RCIPS have received no complaints to their anti-corruption or financial crime units.”
I have since been informed that all these allegations that the former CIAA financial controller was suspected of theft and my suggestions that the person should be investigated were erroneous.
The former CIAA financial controller, and mentioned in both of the above Editorials, was NOT DISMISSED by the Cayman Islands Airport Authority (CIAA). The former CIAA financial controller was terminated pursuant to her Contract of Employment.
I have reliably been informed that there has never been any accusation or allegation by the CIAA that their former financial controller was ever suspected of theft.
The termination of the former financial controller of the CIAA’s contract was, therefore, NOT terminated because the person was suspected of theft.
I am happy to make these corrections and trust that this has corrected any false suggestions that may have been construed by the two Editorials.
