Our Testing Center Is Closed Again!
For the third time since we opened it, our CoViD-19 testing center in Manhattan is closed again due to the mismanagement by Abbott of their supply chain of testing cartridges. For the third time, we have run out of testing cartridges despite placing huge orders. We received the perfunctory apology email when they cancelled our latest order and we had several families crying on our center as they were told that they could not test so they could feel comfortable visiting their elderly families this weekend.
This continuous problem with the Abbott ID Now supply chain is extremely frustrating and we no longer trust them to fix this. Many promises have been made over the past few months about building a second plant, improving deliveries, etc.
So we are doing what any responsible practice would do to serve their patients, we are pivoting to another testing platform. It is more expensive and I think a bit more sensitive than the Abbott test. I’ll let you know after our training next week.
Be well,
Dr. Stu Weiss
