Today’s topics: More CoViD-19 craziness from President Trump
President Trump announces a vaccine will be available in 4 months On the final night of the Republican National Convention, President Trump announced that the US “will produce a vaccine for CoViD-19 before the end of the year, or maybe even sooner”. He made this announcement despite the fact that no major vaccine candidate has completed its clinical trials. As I wrote about a few days ago, releasing a vaccine without completing the necessary safety and efficacy trials is unsafe and foolish. Taken an unproven vaccine may cause serious long term side effects, as we have seen previously with other vaccine candidates. First proven re-infection in the US In an article in Lancet medical journal, pre-prints, researchers at Nevada Center for Bioinformatics report on a person who was infected twice with SARS-CoV-2 virus. The virus was analyzed and was found to be slightly different in each infection proving that it was a reinfection. The 25 year old Nevada patient was sick in April and then again 48 days later. Be well and take care of yourself. There are storm clouds and asteroids on the horizon.–Dr. Stu |
