Vaccine MilestoneToday, you are eligible for a CoViD-19 vaccine in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and Washington D.C.. IT meets the deadline that the president set. We are ding quite well in vaccinating our population by giving 3.2 million doses per day. Almost half of all American adults have received at least one shot with 84.3 million being fully vaccinated. This happened despite the Johnson and Johnson vaccine being halted as regulators in the US continue to study the rare blood clot issue. They are expected to meet again on Friday and should announce a decision shortly. At this pace, we should have vaccinated 70% of our population by mid-June which wil allow us to have small family BBQ’s for the 4th of July. When looking at younger kids, Pfizer has already applied for Emergency Use Authorization for kids 12-15 and Moderna is finishing up its trial and should have data to release soon., This should get us ready to vaccinate kids before school starts. Case Numbers Continue To Be High Despite doing a great job vaccinating people, our case numbers continue to rise. The director of the CDC, Dr. Rochelle Walensky said at a press briefing today that new case numbers remain elevated at 67,000 new cases per day. Michigan continues to lead the nation as the hottest hotspot. Our 14 day average of new cases is up 4% and new hospitalizations is up 10%. New cases and hospitalizations in New York are dropping as are cases in New Jersey, Connecticut and Massachusetts. Other parts of the world are not doing so well. In India, they hit new daily records of new cases along with oxygen and medication shortages. India reported 272,000 new cases on Monday. Large parts of the country have gone into lockdown. Get your self vaccinated quickly so we can get through this together. Dr. Stu WeissSign Up For Our Newsletter |
