Suresh Bhemsein Prasad, Director of Midlands Acre, appeared in Summary Court yesterday (15) facing charges relating to the notorious and highly explosive case of importation of dynamite without a permit.

This is the highly reported case that involves Cayman Islands Premier Hon. McKeeva Bush, who wrote to the collector of customs asking him to release the explosives in question after the shipment was seized by officials.

The RCIPS confirmed in April that the premier was under investigation in connection with the explosives issue. A letter between Bush and Prasad and a memo from Bush to customs have found their way to being displayed on a number of media sites.

Prasad admitted in his letter to Bush he omitted an important step in the importation process regarding the NRA and asked the premier to intervene and get the dynamite released in order to fulfill a major order for marl.

The Bush memo to customs (Carlon Powery) and copied to NRA Director Brian Tomlinson asked for the dynamite to be released but the matter was reported to the police.

Mr. Tomlinson is no longer at his post with the NRA and he is the man suspected of contacting the police.

The Prasad case is slated to be heard today (16) before Magistrate Kirsty-Ann Gunn to see how the matter will proceed.
