Education for Growth

GIS Spotlight grad  The week of Monday, 14 January, GIS Spotlight captures civil servants reaping the benefits of their hard work, observes the preservation of priceless Caymanian art, and revisits the special contributions of some dedicated volunteers.

First we showcase a group of civil servants who have successfully taken steps to improve their learning and careers. Join us to meet the second batch of graduates from the Civil Service College, who have variously earned associates’ degrees and certificates in public administration, or diplomas in a leadership and management.

Hear the Deputy Governor’s and Chief Officer’s views on these triumphs and their hopes that more civil servants will use the opportunities readily available to them. See what qualities workers need to succeed as adult learners.

Next we visit Caymanian visionary painter Miss Lassie’s house once more to understand how her work has been painstakingly preserved and restored under the guidance of the Cayman National Cultural Foundation’s (CNCF’s) Mind’s Eye project. Hear the late painter in a rare interview explain how her work came about and see how prolific and unique her talents are.

Finally this week, travel with GIS Spotlight Gradsus into the world of Special Constables. Witness how these volunteers help the RCIPS to take a bite out of crime in the Cayman Islands. Hear these brave individuals describe their role and why they are motivated to don law enforcement uniforms and give freely of their time and efforts.

Produced by GIS Marketing and Communications, GIS Spotlight showcases government services and solutions regarding issues that concern and affect you. The weekly programme airs Mondays on CIGTV on Cable Channel 20 after 7 pm; and on Cayman27 at 8 pm on Mondays and 6 pm on Saturdays.
