The Census 2021 count by enumerators visiting households on Grand Cayman will now start on Wednesday 13 October 2021.

This move is to further ensure clarity on how to make sure that all in quarantine and isolation comply with COVID-19 safety protocols. 

Census 2021 officially kicked off in the Cayman Islands on Sunday, 10 October which has been designated as Census Day in the law. As a result, the census count on the Sister Islands started on 11 October and is underway with enumerators visiting households there.

However, on Grand Cayman, the Economics and Statistics Office (ESO), which is conducting Census 2021, has decided to postpone the actual count by two days, to ensure the safety of enumerators who will be visiting households. Given the number of individuals in isolation, extra precautions are needed to ensure the safety of both enumerators conducting the count and householders being counted.

ESO Director and Census Team Head, Mr. Adolphus Laidlow said, “We want to especially ensure that our enumerators’ health and safety are not compromised while conducting census interviews.”
