Cheerios recalled

October 7, 2015

Foster’s Food Fair – IGA would like to announce that General Mills Inc. is recalling 1.8 million boxes of Cheerios and Honey Nut Cheerios produced at a plant in Lodi, California, saying the cereal is labeled gluten-free but actually contains wheat. The recall affects Cheerios and Honey Nut Cheerios that were made in July. The Minneapolis Company said Monday; wheat flour was inadvertently used in a gluten-free oat flour system. The use of wheat flour means the cereals are not gluten-free, and people with conditions like wheat allergies or celiac disease who consume them might suffer an allergic reaction or discomfort.

Foster’s Food Fair – IGA locations do carry this product, however did not receive a shipment of the affected product.

The cereal boxes have the plant code “LD”. The Cheerios have “better if used by” dates from July 14 to July 17, 2016 and the Honey Nut Cheerios have “better if used by” dates from July 12 to 25, 2016. See below affected product information:

We are not affected by this recall.

“Foster’s Food Fair – IGA would like to announce that General Mills Inc. is recalling a small amount of frozen Cascadian Farm Cut Green Beans after a package tested positive for listeria. The recall involves green beans produced on one day in June and is limited to 16 ounce bags with a “Better If Used By Date” date of 29June2017. Food-safety experts say listeria is a particularly tricky and virulent pathogen that blossoms in refrigerated environments. Listeria typically doesn’t cause significant illnesses in healthy people but poses a high risk for pregnant women, newborns, older adults and people with weakened immune systems Foster’s Food Fair – IGA locations do not carry this product.”
