European Parliament sends rule of law fact-finding mission to Malta
Maltese investigative journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia was killed in a car bomb attack in 2017. She had been investigating possible corruption in relation to a government contract for a new power station.
Demonstrators have been calling for the resignation of the country’s Prime Minister, Joseph Muscat, for his poor handling of the inquiry into her death.
And a businessman with alleged links to government officials has been charged with complicity in the murder.
So the European Parliament is sending a fact-finding mission to look into the functioning of the rule of law in Malta.
