FILA and VR46 – A remarkable victory in India for Marco Bezzecchi
FILA
(FILA Luxembourg S.a.r.L.) FILA is proud to celebrate the victory of the Mooney VR46 Racing Team in the 13th round of the MotoGP World Championship.
The Italian team secured a remarkable win in the inaugural edition of the Indian Grand Prix, held at the Buddh International Circuit, with the rider Marco Bezzecchi taking the top step of the podium. FILA has been at the forefront of the MotoGP world since the early ‘00s. For the last 2 years, the Biella-based company has been a proud partner of the VR46 Riders Academy, founded by Valentino Rossi to nurture talented riders as they rise through the ranks to the pinnacle of MotoGP.
This partnership has proven to be highly successful, as evidenced by the remarkable achievements of FILA-sponsored riders Marco Bezzecchi and Luca Marini in 2022, especially Bezzecchi, who won the ‘Rookie of the Year’ award by a wide margin.
For the Mooney VR46 Racing Team, this marks their third victory this season, the fourth if the Sprint Race triumph in Assen is to be considered. Bezzecchi’s success has significantly reduced the gap in the overall championship standings, with only a 44-point difference from the leader, Francesco Bagnaia, and a 31-point gap from Jorge Martín.
The Indian GP weekend got off to a challenging start, with a collision between the two Tavullia team riders during the Sprint Race. This unfortunate incident resulted in Luca Marini’s fall and Marco Bezzecchi dropping to the rear positions. However, Bezzecchi displayed an exceptional resilience during the Sprint Race, climbing back to fifth place and securing a spot in the second row for Sunday’s main race. In the race, Bezzecchi took an early lead in the first lap of the GP and held onto it until the race’s conclusion, crowning a stellar performance.
The commitment of the Mooney VR46 Racing Team and FILA now continues with the next round of the championship, scheduled to take place in Motegi, Japan, on the weekend of September 30 th and October 1st.
