Financial Statement Knowledge Skillfully Imparted

Terry Carson (front centre) with participants from recent Financial Statements session

On October 4 and 5, ten participants benefited from the skills imparted by Chamber instructor, Terry Carson, in the course “Understanding Financial Statements”.  Over the course of two-days, participants gained an understanding of financial statements in an easy to follow and interesting format. Participants learned the difference in financial statement categories, such as assets, liabilities, equity, revenue and expense.  Specific details were imparted relating to the understanding of the auditor’s report, materiality, and internal control in evaluating the financial statements. The course also focused on the application of key ratios and trend analysis to identify the strengths and weaknesses in a company’s performance.

Participants in general were very satisfied with the structure of the course and the way the information was outlined in an easy to follow format.

“Terry is an extremely qualified professional and through his delivery, made the course material very interesting to the entire class.  I would definitely recommend this course to anyone interested in learning more about financial statements”.  Kerry Pratt, course participant.
