Garfield Sinclair, president of the Caribbean operations for Cable & Wireless Communications confirmed that the managing director of the Cayman operations resigned this week after 10 months on the job.

The company has installed a new interim head from within the company to replace Victor Salgado.

“We can confirm that Salgado has left the company to pursue other career opportunities,” said Sinclair. “As we ensure that our business continues to grow and build on past successes we have appointed our customer experience director, Daniel Tathum, interim country manager.”

Salgado became managing director of Flow Cayman in December 2016 after rising in the ranks, having joined the company in 2013 as chief technology officer. Salgado held positions in regional telecoms over the last two decades including Ericsson and Digicel before Flow in the region.

“We thank Victor for his contribution and commitment to C&W Communications and wish him success in his endeavours,” said Sinclair.

Sinclair did not respond directly to queries on whether Salgado’s departure was routine or represented a restructurings of operations. The financial performance of the Cayman operation is not disclosed.

Large cable operator Liberty Global, the ultimate owner of Flow, has made key management changes for the CWC operations and has charged the regional businesses that fall under its LiLAC Group to generate more cash. The target for this year is US$1.5 billion, or 40 per cent more than the US$1.09 billion delivered in 2016.
