Domestic workers in Africa call to be included in formal employment sector
Labor unions in African countries such as Zambia are spurring calls for domestic workers to be included in the formal employment sector in order to better protect workers from exploitation and ensure they have access to effective labor and social protections. The majority of African nations have yet to ratify the ILO’s Domestic Workers Convention
Translating modern slavery around the world
We recently asked the global Freedom United community to take part in our Translating Modern Slavery survey to better understand how terms such as “human trafficking”, “forced labor” and “modern slavery” are discussed, framed, or translated in languages besides English. Language is complex and we recognize how local cultural contexts and linguistic nuances shape local advocacy and public understanding.
