Gabriella lifts Miss GT crown
Gabriella McField, was crowned Miss George Town 2012 at Mary Miller Hall. Despite describing herself as “shy,” 15-year old Gabriella, a student at John Gray High School managed to overcome her shyness, scoring high marks in every section of the show.
Eight contestants took part including Gabriella: Raeven Gould, Kayla McField, Doralee Wright, Kayana Bustillo, Cindi Welcome, Chelsea Evans and Asha Hurlston.
The show began with walk-on presentation, followed by the Interview section where each of the contestants was asked their opinions on topical themes.
Each of the girls had another chance to show off their talent during the ‘modelling section’. They were able to in project their personalities by modeling stunning casual-wear outfits that they had put together themselves.
Asha Hurlston wore a blue sarong-skirt with a white swim suite top, and Doralee Wright looked cool and casual in a flowing leopard-skin pattern grey top with black pants. Kayla McField looked marvelous in a swim suite with a grey sarong and a white floppy hat. Kyana Bustillo was sophisticated and stylish in black Leggings and off the shoulder silver and black top, and Gabriella McField wore a bright orange cotton mini-dress with white sneakers.
Between each section, there was plenty of entertainment from some of the most talented stars around, including singers Oscar Calidonio, Lexie Ashley, and dancer LeBron McLean.
During the Grace and Elegance section each of the contestants had the chance to wow the judges with their long, flowing evening gowns.
After long deliberations, when the panel of judges were ask to choose a winner according to criteria such as personality, diction, charisma, posture, confidence and of course, grace and elegance too, the contestants reappeared onstage for the prizes.
Apart from winning the title of Miss George Town 2012 and a wonderful prize of a perfume set and handbag, donated by Kirk Freeport, Gabriella McField also won Miss Photogenic and Best Smile. Kayla McField won First Runner Up, Raeven Gould won Second Runner Up, and Chelsea Evans was Third Runner Up. Asha Hurlston was won the prize for Best Personality, and the prize for Most Improved went to Doralee Wright.
Former George Town MLA Lucille Seymour presented the trophies, and thanked organisers Dwight McLean and Pauline McField for all their hard work in putting the show together.
