Imagine looking through a telescope while hanging out the window of a helicopter or an off-road vehicle. Sure, the telescope will let you see for miles, but there’d be nothing stopping you from bouncing around in the cabin, unable to focus on a single far-off object.
Now imagine using that shaky telescope while trying to save someone’s life, maybe even your own. Worse yet, it’s nighttime and raining.
For critical missions, where every second counts, law enforcement agencies and military personnel rely on a more sophisticated “set of eyes” — one that can see through the dark, magnify the world and keep steady in extreme conditions. Namely, Lockheed Martin’s Gyrocam system.
Combining an advanced, gyro-stabilized system with multiple high-definition and thermal imaging sensors, Gyrocam allows users to see more through modern technology.
Today, more than 1,100 Gyrocam systems have been fielded on the ground, in the air and on the water — in both manned and unmanned vehicles — to vastly augment the user’s field of vision.
“We use our camera system on about 85 to 90 percent of our flights. It’s an extension of our eyes,” stated a police aviation official.
Lockheed Martin’s Gyrocam delivers a tactical advantage in potentially life-threatening situations; keeping watch over warfighters as they conduct crucial missions that demand enhanced awareness.
