GOLF: JGA name 14-member team for Caribbean Amateur Championships

The Jamaica Golf Association (JGA) has named a 14-member team to compete at the Caribbean Amateur Golf Championships in the US Virgin Islands from August 5-11.

The squad includes four elite players who will compete for the Hoerman Cup.

The elite players are – Paul Thompson, Jonathan Newnham, William Knibbs and Christopher Clarke.

Clarke will be representing Jamaica for the first time at the premier golf event.

Jamaica will also compete for the Ramon Baez Cup, Francis and Steele Perkins Trophy, the Higgs and Higgs Cup and the George Teale Trophy.

The players who have made the Ramon Baez team are Sean Morris and Lindell Bartley.

Radcliffe Knibbs and Gregory Chong are members of the Francis and Steele Perkins Trophy; while the Higgs and Higgs team comprises Philip Wilson and Hamar Dayes.

The George Teale team comprises Jodi Barrow, Rochell Prince and Michele Gabay.

In addition four reserves players were named.
