       1. PGA Tour Set for Early June Restart in Fort Worth: The PGA Tour’s policy board has approved what the circuit is calling a “Health and Safety Plan” to prepare for the restart of its schedule next month at the Charles Schwab Challenge. In a memo sent to players on Friday, the Tour’s chief of operations Tyler Dennis confirmed that the circuit is “on track” to play June 11-14 at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Tex. and that the protocols for a return to play, which will include multiple coronavirus tests, will be released next week.Read More . . .

       2. Charity Fund to Benefit from Tourney with Spieth, Romo, Viktor Hovland: What started out last month as a casual conversation on the back patio at Maridoe Golf Club between a few members and the club’s owner ended up as a sort of exhibition for golf’s action-starved fan base. Pull back the curtain on last month’s Maridoe Samaritan Fund Invitational and you’ll get a window into how golf can continue amid a global pandemic. The first tournament was such a hit that the Maridoe Samaritan Fund Invitational 2.0 (or MSFI) is already scheduled for May 19-21. The inaugural event raised more than $20,000 for Maridoe’s caddies on the strength of a stellar field that ranged from Korn Ferry Tour players to top collegians. Jordan Spieth played only as a marker (he was famously robbed of a hole-out by a spacer in the hole) because he was tied up early week with PGA Tour Players Advisory Council duties, but he’s in the field for the MSFI 2.0.Read More . . .

       3. Vijay Singh Defended by Phil Mickelson in Korn Ferry Tour Dustup: Shots were fired on Thursday when Korn Ferry Tour pro Brady Schnell attacked World Golf Hall of Fame member Vijay Singh for signing up for the Korn Ferry Challenge, June 11-14 at TPC Sawgrass. Schnell tweeted that Singh, a 34-time PGA Tour winner, was a “turd” and a “true piece of trash” for entering the event and taking a spot from one of the lower-level circuit’s players. Schnell has since deleted his tweets. Singh has largely been skewered on social media for being “selfish” and “tone deaf.” On Friday, several major champions jumped to Singh’s defense.
