Governor Designate arrives in Cayman Islands
Governor Designate of the Cayman Islands, Anwar Choudhury, flew into Owen Roberts International Airport this morning (Monday, 26 March 2018) to take up his position.
After disembarking from a Cayman Airways flight at around 11.30 a.m., he was greeted by His Excellency the Acting Governor Mr. Franz Manderson, Premier Hon. Alden McLaughlin, MLAs, staff from the Governor’s Office and other senior officials.
Mr. Choudhury was presented with a gift basket, containing local products, by Lance Corporal Shanell Martinez and Lieutenant Wilston Bennett of the Cadet Corps. Mr. Choudhury was also given a Guard of Honour salute by the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service before departing for Government House with his wife Momina and three daughters, including two-month-old baby Emilia.
He was sworn in as Governor of the Cayman Islands at the Legislative Assembly this afternoon. A public reception is being held at Pedro St. James to welcome the Choudhury family from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m.
