Grand Cayman Marriott Beach Resort completes $16 million renovation
GRAND CAYMAN, Cayman Islands – Winter might be approaching, but the Grand Cayman Marriott Beach Resort, nestled on the Caribbean’s beloved Seven Mile Beach, is taking guests back to a summer state-of-mind with the completion of an extensive renovation totaling more than $16 million.
In phase two of the renovation, all public areas of the Grand Cayman resort have undergone a major transformation, including the lobby, restaurants, ballroom, meeting rooms and fitness center. The inspiration for the new design embraces a Ship-to-Shore concept that embodies the themes of the spirit of openness, sense of adventure, craftsmanship and the island’s strong connection with the sea. The aim has been to capture the relaxing and casual seaside ambience of island living by using neutral textures and nautical elements. The resort’s guest rooms were also completely overhauled last year with phase one of the renovation.
The choice of the furnishings’ color palette reinforces the use of natural light. There is an emphasis on neutral and light colors such as white, beige and tones of gray. Different shades of blue have been incorporated to remind guests of the sea.
Different textures such as polished wood, leather and weaved fabrics for the furniture creates fun, modern but comfortable seating arrangements for guests. Wood is featured heavily within the fixtures – this raw element adds a touch of authenticity and is reminiscent of being out in nature.
Central to the renovation is also the rebranding of the lobby, restaurant and bar into Anchor & Den, giving visitors a whole new experience from the moment they step foot into the resort. This innovative and eclectic space has been transformed so guests can gather, connect, relax, dine and enjoy quality time with family and friends. With the use of locally sourced products to create the ultimate globally inspired comfort food menu, memorable experiences are made through fun food, handcrafted cocktails and chic music.
In-style alfresco dining can be enjoyed at the newly revamped oceanfront restaurant and bar. Renamed Veranda and Vista Bar, the space boasts vintage-inspired décor and has an air of bohemian chic that diners can enjoy while admiring breathtaking views of the turquoise Caribbean Sea.
The Beach House Experience aims to unite guests with the happy nostalgia of summertime, when life is brighter and more carefree – a time when families and loved ones reunite and reconnect with each other.
As part of the resort’s services, the inclusion of amenities such as free Linus bike rentals invite guests to enjoy the island like a local. Also included is complimentary snorkeling gear so guests can explore the Artificial Reef Project, a short swim from the hotel’s beachfront and entry to weekly beach bonfires. For those who enjoy sea & water activities, free rentals of paddleboards and kayaks are available on a first come, first serve basis.
