BAKER POINT FILMING AREAS
From April to May of 2021, the British Overseas Territory of the Cayman Islands was the filming location for ‘The Baker’. This location was chosen due to the shooting restrictions enforced by North America during the COVID-19 Pandemic. The film’s images feature a cityscape showcasing buildings with a striking skyline, likely influenced by Miami, Florida’s skyline.

The filming of the movie, ‘The Baker,’ was predominantly shot in Grand Cayman, the largest of the Cayman Islands, where the film crew was presented with an array of stunning settings that stretched beyond conventional island imagery: scenes of Caribbean charm and modern neighborhoods were also shot in the vibrant urban space of George Town.
George Town’s atypical and affluent features complement the film industry’s inventive potential. Landmarks like the Cayman Islands National Museum and the Legislative Assembly offer filmmakers a chance to incorporate the island’s rich history. The selection of the Cayman Islands for their movies was accompanied by three major hits: ‘Blue Iguana’, ‘The Baker’, and ‘The Retirement Plan’ featuring Nicholas Cage and Ron Perlman.
Ron Perlman, a 71-year-old actor, transitioned into the action-hero Pappi persona. He shed a staggering 20lbs within seven weeks of filming and was noted for his physical transformation. He clearly grew in his frame, which was crucial for the role, and was even bitten by a stingray while swimming in Grand Cayman. He was gifted a bottle of Seven Fathoms rum to commemorate his 71st birthday.
