- Xend Finance Launches Africa’s First Crypto Banking App.The blockchain-based application allows users to save in stable currencies, in order to hedge against inflation and devaluation. The app is now available on all iOS and Android stores.
- Twitter Officially Launches Its “Twitter Ghana” Handle And Unveils Billboards With Tweets In Accra.
- Government To Implement Electronic Payment Levy In 2022. At a Budget reading in Parliament, the Minister of Parliament, Ken Ofori Atta proposed a new levy on electronic payments to begin in February 2022. The aim of this levy will be to widen the tax net and rope in the informal sector in Ghana.
- Nigerian Cashback App, Lumi, already has 60,000 Millennials and Gen-Zers Using It In Less Than One Year. Just one year into the market, Lumi has positioned itself as the Rewards app of choice for Nigeria’s youthful population. Since it was launched in Lagos in December 2020.
- Nigeria has moved a step closer to rolling out its landmark Nigeria Startup Bill(NSB)

- The Finnish Ministry of Economic Affairs recently funded an innovation project for VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland to build the country’s first quantum computer.
- Swedish researchers are patiently developing a useful quantum computer.
Caribbean Tech and Business News
- Haiti tops the list of eight (8) Caribbean countries with the most cryptocurrency users. A cryptocurrency is an alternative digital currency to traditional currency. It allows financial transactions, purchases, transfers, among others.
- A Trinidad and Tobago-based gas company, Phoenix Park Gas Processors Limited, has acquired an NGLs Terminal in Texas.
- Massy has achieved another milestone with the cross-listing of Massy Holdings Limited onto the Jamaica Stock Exchange. The company said the cross-listing represents a “critical transaction for Jamaica and the region at large”.
