Guyana: Satanic bandits attack church – carted off millions in donations

By Wonita Stephens From Guyana Guardian

Hundreds of Children and their families who usually relies on receiving toys, clothing and other goodies from the Salvation Army each Christmas season here in Guyana may not be so lucky this holiday.

This is because a group of bandits had attacked the religious organization’s property at South Road and Alexander Streets in the city last week, and carted off over two million dollars in donations which included cash, shoes, clothing, and other valuables.

While details are sketchy, the Guyana Guardian understands that the bandits had practically ransacked the church property and carted off everything that they can carry, leaving many of the elders at the Salvation Army in a state of shock, since they are of the view, that bandits robbing the church or a charity of donations especially at Christmas time was seemingly inconceivable.

One of the elders, who do not wish to be identified, told this publication that at best, they can only forgive the ‘satanic bandits’ for what they had done, since “we are leaving everything up to the Creator for Him to determine their judgement”.

But with Christmas being just over two weeks away, many of the religious organization’s planned charitable contributions to hundreds of children and the elderly will be greatly affected.
