Guyana: Sexual predator who calls his victims whores, faces several charges
By Alleya Hamilton From Guyana Guardian
A man who has been described as a “Sexual Predator, Child Molester, and Public Nuisance” by his accusers, was on Friday hauled before the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court to answer to several charges stemming from a series of complaints from a number of women across the Sophia area.
The man, Collin Carbon, age 28, of Dennis Street, ‘B’field Sophia, and who is already facing several other charges before the Court, was granted more bail again when he appeared before Magistrate Aleisha George to answer to the new charges.
Speaking with the Guyana Guardian after the matter was called, one of his victims Necaila Mc Lennon stressed upon the degrading labels that the man (called Carbon) has been throwing at her which is filled with the worst profanities, almost daily.
A parent of one of his youngest victim who is 14-years-old also lamented at the fact that the man has been physically harassing and calling her daughter a “little whore” day after day, because she refused his advances.
It is understood that the man lures school-age girls from as little as 12 years old by giving them money, and then performing gruesome sex acts upon them. And in most cases, parents are either too embarrassed or afraid to come forward.
Another woman, 20-year-old Lisa Salim, complained that she was sexually harassed by the man on many occasions which would have seen him fondling and spanking her against her approval. But each time she reported the matter, the police would always drag their feet, except for a previous occasion when he begged her not to proceed with the matter.
And though she is happy that the man was charged, like many of his other victims, they are concerned about their safety now that the man has been released on bail again.
However, some of the women complaint that though they were told that Carbon would be charged for sexually assaulting them, their matter was never brought before the court.
They were told that they will have to return to the Turkeyen Police Station, again.
Several persons in the Sophia area has since described “Carbon” as a public nuisance, and a very disrespectful man who also abuses his daughter.
Even a man who claims to be his acquaintance described Mr. Carbon as a community “Pest”, who does not know when society has had enough of his conduct.
Like others, he is also of the view that the Ministry of Social Protection and the police should take a closer look at the individual.
