Haiti: Police officers shot dead
PORT AU PRINCE, Haiti – Two police officers were shot and killed in as many days, officials here have reported.
Justice and Public Security Minister Camille Edouard Jr., has deplored the deaths of two members of the National Police of Haiti.
“Minister Edouard expresses his deepest condolences, sympathies and full support to the families of the victims, their families and their PNH colleagues,” a statement from the Justice Ministry noted.
It reiterated that the government “will not allow any entity to create a situation likely to bring the country back into instability and anarchy”.
Police said that Frantz Valéry Dallemand was shot dead in Petion ville while returning from a commercial bank on Saturday and one day later, Inspector Uria Louis, who is in charge of the Police Station of Petite Rivière de l’Artibonite was killed as he sought to intervene in a dispute involving activists from two political parties.
PNH deputy spokesman, Inspector Garry Desrosiers, said that an investigation had been launchedinto the murders.
