Halleluijah Praises in the Courtyard
The University College of the Cayman Islands will host a major benefit gospel concert slated for Friday and Saturday, May 25 & 26, 2012, 6:30pm at the UCCI Courtyard. Entitled Halleluja: Praises in the Courtyard,
This will showcase performances by Quincy Brown, Crissy D, the UCCI Choir, UCCI Pandemix Steel Pan Band, UCCI Dancers, as well as a host of guest performers such as Daphne Orrett, Savannah United Church Choir, New Testament George Town Young Adult Choir, Victory Tabernacle Choir, Christ the Redeemer Choir, Opal Lorraine and many more.
It is UCCI’s aim to produce two nights of lively gospel music, dance and drama in order to raise funds for the development of Performing Arts at the University College while enabling the community to come together in fellowship and praise. As evidenced by the growing success of the UCCI Choir, Pandemix Band and Dancers, students who are involved in programmes such as this have found themselves enriched with positive experiences that have honed their talents, built their self-confidence and enabled them to become well-rounded individuals. Furthermore, the discipline and dedication they have practiced in the performing arts also has encouraged the same in the pursuit of academic excellence.
This is the first time that UCCI has hosted a gospel concert, and also the first time they have brought such a large group of performers from various churches, schools and other sectors of the community.
