Happy Seniors visit the National Gallery
Over 30 seniors from the Elmslie Memorial United Church and Church of God Happy Seniors Group visited the National Gallery Monday, 17 February 2014. The Happy Seniors enjoyed taking part in creative art activities, listing to a lecture about the history of art in the Cayman Islands and participating in tours of the current exhibition titled Our Story of Art. Seniors also found time to relax in the National Gallery gardens.
The Happy Seniors group visit is part of the National Gallery’s outreach programme titled Art Talk sponsored by Ernst & Young. The programme takes place every other Thursday afternoon from 2:00 PM until 2:45 PM in the National Gallery Exhibition Hall. Admission to Art Talk is free to the public and includes refreshments. This popular outreach programme is designed for adults over the age of 65 and their families.
Art Talk engages participants in conversation about art by focusing on particular pieces from the National Gallery’s collection and special exhibitions. The programme includes discussions and activities to encourage creative and intellectual stimulation specifically geared towards seniors.
