HBO announces its January movie lineup premieres in the Caribbean
The Girl (HBO Films) – Alfred Hitchcock (Toby Jones), the iconic English director, becomes obsessed with Tippi Hedren (Sienna Miller), his leading lady during the making of “The Birds” and “Marnie.” As he attempted to sculpt Hedren into the perfect blonde of his imagination, he became obsessed with the impossible dream of winning her love. Her rejection of his misguided attempts only added to his obsession, putting both their careers and personal lives in jeopardy. Directed by: Julian Jarrold.
The Help (DreamWorks Studios through Touchtone Pictures) – Skeeter (Emma Stone), Aibileen (Viola Davis) and Minny (Octavia Spencer) are three very different, extraordinary women in Mississippi during the 1960s, who build an unlikely friendship around a secret writing project that breaks societal rules and puts them all at risk. A remarkable sisterhood emerges from their improbable alliance, instilling in all of them the courage to transcend the boundaries that define them, and the realization that sometimes those boundaries are made to be crossed. The Adventures of Tintin (Paramount Pictures) – Based on the series of books “The Adventures of Tintin” by Hergé, young reporter Tintin and his loyal dog Snowy are thrust into a world of high adventure when they discover a ship carrying an explosive secret. As Tintin is drawn into a centuries-old mystery, Ivan Ivanovitch Sakharine suspects him of stealing a priceless treasure. Tintin and Snowy, with the help of the irritable Captain Haddock and the bumbling detectives Thompson & Thomson, travel the world, one step ahead of their enemies, as Tintin endeavors to find The Unicorn, a sunken ship that may hold a vast fortune, but also an ancient curse. War Horse (DreamWorks Studios through Touchtone Pictures) – Set in rural England and Europe during the First World War, the film features the remarkable friendship between a horse named Joey and a young man named Albert who tames and trains him. They are forced to part ways and Joey goes on to war, inspiring the lives of everyone he meets before the story reaches its emotional climax in the heart of No Man’s Land. The First World War is experienced through the journey of this horse – an odyssey of joy and sorrow, passionate friendship and adventure. Directed by: Steven Spielberg.
