HBO kicks off 2014 with two new original series, True Detective and Looking, and Girls Season 3
The three series will premiere in the Caribbean during the month of January, simultaneously with the United States
HBO Latin America has confirmed a January 12th simultaneous premiere date with the United States for both the new original drama series True Detective and the third season of the Emmy® and Golden Globe® winning original comedy series Girls, which returns with a special two-episode premiere. Looking, a new comedy-drama original series, premieres the following week on January 19th, also simultaneously with the United States.
True Detective stars Matthew McConaughey as Rust Cohle and Woody Harrelson as Martin Hart, two Louisiana detectives whose lives collide and entwine during a 17-year hunt for a killer, ranging from the original investigation of a bizarre murder in 1995 to the reopening of the case in 2012. Michelle Monaghan also stars as Hart’s wife, Maggie, who struggles to keep her family together as the men in her life become locked in a cycle of violence and obsession. Written by Nic Pizzolatto and directed by Cary Fukunaga, who are executive producers along with Steve Golin and Scott Stephens.

In the new comedy-drama Looking, premiering the following week on January 19th, three friends in San Francisco explore the fun and sometimes overwhelming options available to a new generation of gay men. Created by Michael Lannan and executive produced by Andrew Haigh and Sarah Condon (HBO’s “Bored to Death”), the show stars Jonathan Groff, Frankie J. Alvarez and Murray Bartlett.
