He must stand trial. But he doesn’t stand alone.

It sounds like a story pulled from a legal thriller. A man investigating allegations of workers in modern slavery finds evidence of the alleged exploitation. But when the report is published, instead of taking action against the corrupt corporation, the government allows him to be put on trial.
That is exactly what has happened to activist Andy Hall.
Three years ago, WALK FREE.ORG launched a campaign to help Andy Hall. His story captured our attention from the moment we first heard it.
Now it’s time to take strong action on his behalf.
At Walk Free, we ask people just like you to tackle the issue of modern slavery, and here was someone facing legal action for doing exactly that.
Since 2013, hundreds of thousands of Walk Free supporters have signed our campaigns calling for Andy’s freedom. We’ve held numerous protests and rallies, and met with Thai authorities in London and Bangkok to argue Andy’s case.
We know our campaigns have made a difference. Andy has told us himself how much this support has meant to him over the last few years, and in 2015, the first of his four cases was dismissed for the second time.[1]
But his ordeal is far from over. Next week, he begins trial.
With the tourism industry in Thailand constituting a significant proportion of their annual GDP, those in charge should be concerned by your views.[2] By showing Thailand in a negative light, we can make them sit up and take notice.

Activists in Thailand must be able to report on abuse or unsafe working conditions. This case sends a dangerous message that undermines this right to free speech. As the trial approaches, it is crucial we show that the international community will not stand for the persecution of those uncovering exploitation and modern slavery.
