The Dublin schoolboy was with his parents, who had just moved to the area two weeks ago

A four-year-old Irish boy has drowned in the Caribbean, it has emerged.

Dublin tot Finn McCarthy was swimming in a pool at a housing complex in Puerto Rico when the tragedy struck.

The tragic incident happened around 3pm on Tuesday afternoon.

The little lad was with his parents who had only moved to the area just two weeks ago.

A Puerto Rican police source told the Irish Sun: “A call to the 911 system alerted authorities to a drowned minor at this address.

“Upon arrival, units from Guaynabo District found the body of Finn McCarthy Reyes, aged, four, drowned in the swimming pool area.

“The alarm has been raised by Anthony McCarthy, a resident in the mentioned complex and father of the boy.

“Units from Guaynabo District, together with Caguas CID and social services are investigating the incident.”
