At 6 pm the FINAL poll returns from all districts show an average of 79.93% of electors turned out to poll that equates to 14,758 votes cast out of a possible 18,492 registered voters.

The Elections office was expecting a 90% turn-out but it fell way short and didn’t quite break the 80% barrier that was expected. West Bay, Cayman Brac & Little Cayman and east End were the only districts that passed 80% with East End very nearly making it to 90%. The lowest district for election turn-out was North Side with 78.30% and the big surprise was George Town recording the second lowest turn-out with   79.31%.

This was the reason the high expectations were not realised as George Town has the largest number of registered voters of 7,441 but 1,549 stayed at home.

In 2009 80.54% of the electorate went to the polls, although there was a record turn-out of 14,758 voters this year.

West Bay  –  80.24%

George Town  –  79.31%

Cayman Brac & Little Cayman  –  80.29%

Bodden Town  –  79.94%

North Side  –  78.30%

East End   –  87.32%
