Heavy rain, localized flooding persist in the Caribbean
Portions of the northern Caribbean have been doused by episodes of heavy rain since last week and additional downpours are a threat through Wednesday.
While there will be some dry hours, rainfall at inopportune times can put a damper on activities for those vacationing in the region.
The more intense showers and thunderstorms can kick up the surf and create dangerous boating conditions.
Torrential downpours can cause localized flooding, especially over the mountainous terrain of Hispaniola and Puerto Rico.
Some locations have received more than 3 inches of rain since last week and some locations could receive another 1-2 inches through Wednesday.
The recent rain is not in association with any organized tropical system and tropical development in the Caribbean is not anticipated through this week.
