Hell is not heaven but Turtle Farm is

HellCarnivalCruise329On a Disney Cruise Line (DCL) Discussion Board someone asked if anyone had gone to Hell on his or her own?

These are some of the interesting replies:

Question:

From CamColt – Has anyone gone to Hell on their own, not with a DCL tour? If so, how did you get there and about what was the cost?

We have the tour booked that also goes to the Turtle Farm. They changed the time on us to 10:15 and I don’t think we will make that. We weren’t really interested in the Turtles anyway, so I’m thinking if we can get to Hell on our own, that may be the better option.

Any info is appreciated.

Answers:

Tiffinymunn – We were just there in October. We booked the turtle farm online through the actual company. They had a free shuttle service and our driver was SUPER nice. We told him that we wanted to go to Hell and also to 7 mile beach. He told us that if we would meet him outside the turtle farm after we were done, about 1/2 an hour before we were scheduled to return to the shuttle, that he would take us to Hell and let us spend about 10 min there (REALLY , That is ALL you need) and then he would drop us off at 7 mile beach. It all worked out so great and we had an amazing time. Grand Cayman was our favorite place. We tipped him generously.

While in Hell, be sure to bring some cash, send a post card FROM the turtle farm, back to yourself from the Hell post office.

Hell, its self is free. honestly there is nothing to do there, but look at the rocks. It’s cool… but the Turtle farm was AMAZING.

lady9 – We did do ours through DCL and it included the turtles and some other things. I just want to point out that Hell was not that exciting. It is some black rock formation behind a kitchy gift shop/post office. It would not be worth the time, effort, or money just to see it IMO.

Pooh001 – Just was there last week. No ticket needed to get in. It literally takes 5 min and don’t feel bad if you miss it. Have fun on your trip!

kiford – Hell is basically some rocks you can look at from the back of a parking lot of a gift shop. Interesting if you like geology (I am and it was) but as others have stated – 5 minutes or so is good enough.

My DH wanted to see the turtle farm (we did DCL tour) but I didn’t. So I agreed that we would do it since he wanted to. Really glad I did. It was fascinating and I learned quite a lot. Quite enjoyed watching some of the younger children holding the smaller turtles – they were so entranced by them. Definitely worth the time IMO.

ThePhantomsGirl – I’ve been to Hell. It’s interesting…for a few minutes. Mostly a tourist stop where they hope you’ll buy stuff.

The rocks were interesting to look at for a bit. But other than having your picture taken in front of the Hell post office, not really that fun.

I wasn’t on DCL when I went, but I did use a non-ship sponsored tour. Went sort of last minute with one of the many, many tour operators that will stand around the port. Think I paid like $20 for an island tour. They stopped at Hell, the Turtle Farm, and I think there is also a dolphin place right next to the Turtle Farm. The Tortuga Rum Factory is right there too. What I actually liked about the Rum Factory was right behind the building was an area right on the water. The waves were really wild that day.

Went with a group of people from my ship who were like me, standing around wondering whether to go on a tour or not. It was okay and I felt safe enough.
