High exhibitor interest in EnergyDecentral shows the relevance of the exhibition’s topics−renewable−energy

More than 250 exhibitors already signed up – Leading trade fair for sustainable energy production to take place alongside EuroTier exhibition and Inhouse Farming Feed & Show – DLG Spotlight on Solar Energy – November 12 to 15, 2024 in Hanover, Germany

EnergyDecentral, which will take place in Hanover, Germany from 12-15 November, 2024, is attracting a high level of exhibitor interest seven months before the trade fair kicks off. More than 250 companies have already registered for the leading trade fair for decentralized energy supply, which covers the entire value chain of sustainable energy production. The focus will be on biogas and biomethane, wind energy, photovoltaics, agri-photovoltaic, wood fuels, decentralized energy technology (CHP, BHKW), energy storage and hydrogen. Parallel to EuroTier, the world’s leading trade fair for animal farming, and the “Inhouse Farming – Feed & Food Show”, the new platform of the DLG (German Agricultural Society) for self-contained agricultural and food systems, EnergyDecentral offers a broad spectrum of innovations and information for the agricultural and food industry. The DLG spotlight on Solar Energy provides information on current trends in self-generated electricity, electrification of farms, solar parks and agri-PV, among other things.

Photovoltaics, electricity storage and wind power are currently relevant topics for farmers – whether for self-supply or for feeding into the grid. Both the technology and the legal and political framework conditions for renewables are developing rapidly. “Generating energy from renewable sources has been a core agricultural competence since the beginning of the energy transition,” explains Marcus Vagt, Project Manager of EnergyDecentral and DLG Division Manager for Energy, Inhouse Farming and New Foods. “The current market situation with rising energy prices is driving the investment in renewable energies while interest in land for photovoltaic and wind power plants is increasing.” In the region, for the region, close to the consumer – this is how agriculture can make a valuable contribution to a secure and climate-friendly energy supply in the future. This opens up new supply and marketing opportunities for agriculture. At EnergyDecentral, manufacturers from the fields of photovoltaics, electricity storage and wind power can make new contacts with decision-makers from a highly professional target group that has been closely associated with the topic of “renewable energies” for decades.

DLG Spotlight on Solar Energy

Photovoltaic systems for generating self-produced electricity – with or without electricity storage – are becoming increasingly economically attractive due to the rising costs of fossil fuels. In short, modern agriculture offers ideal conditions for becoming an essential part of a stable, decentralized and CO2-neutral energy supply. Regional, with the subsequent short distances and close to the consumer, there are excellent prospects for renewable energies in agriculture. Both the German government’s expansion targets and the increasing energy demand for the electrification of agriculture create enormous investment potential for systems in the field like agriphotovolatic, and storage solutions. The new Spotlight Solar Offensive at EnergyDecentral offers professionals a free initial consultation on the opportunities of photovoltaics for agricultural businesses. The focus is on the topics of reducing energy costs through solar self-generated electricity (roofs, facades, fallow land), solar electrification of farms (heating, cooling, ventilation, e-mobility), open spaces for solar parks (leasing, project partners, refinancing), agri-PV – harvesting crops and electricity from the land (arable farming, pastureland, horticulture ) and using canals and lakes as solar surfaces (floating PV).

Technological innovations, increasing efficiency, preserving biodiversity

Another focus of EnergyDecentral is on biogas production and use. Experts will be discussing the status quo and options for the continued operation of biogas plants as well as investments to increase flexibility and integration into existing energy systems. The leading trade fair will also focus on technological developments in battery storage systems, integrated energy storage systems and the integration of combined heat and power (CHP) plants into hybrid energy generation systems. Experts will also explore the importance of digital networking and remote monitoring for increasing efficiency and flexibility. The challenges and opportunities of grid integration and the provision of grid services will be key topics in the discussions. This includes legal and regulatory framework conditions as well as the evaluation of environmental protection measures and emission reduction. In addition to technological aspects, the evaluation of ecosystem services and the contribution of biodiversity PV systems to the conservation of biodiversity in agricultural areas are considered. The focus is on the implementation and planning of biodiversity PV as well as long-term sustainability aspects.

“DLG.Prototype.Club” under the theme “Challenge. Collaborate. Create.”

For developers from the fields of software, engineering and start-ups, DLG is once again offering a “live rapid prototyping competition” for software developers and start-ups to solve digital challenges in agriculture and decentralized energy supply with the DLG.Prototype.Club at EuroTier and EnergyDecentral.Digital solutions are a crucial component in tackling the major challenges facing the agricultural sector, such as food security, climate change and sustainability. In the run-up to the trade fair, exhibitors and partners of EuroTier and EnergyDecentral are naming a technical “challenge”.

The DLG.Prototype.Club selects teams of software developers, engineers and start-ups to solve this challenge. The teams then present their fully functional prototypes to the challenge partner at EuroTier and EnergyDecentral.

Optimal complement: EuroTier and Inhouse Farming

EuroTier takes place in Hanover at the same time as EnergyDecentral. The world’s leading trade fair for animal husbandry professionals offers an overview of products and services for the entire animal food production value chain. The focus is on animal welfare, animal health, sustainability, emissions, breeding, husbandry, feeding, digitalization, management, processing and marketing. EuroTier thus provides an ideal framework for the specialist range of EnergyDecentral. The “Inhouse Farming – Feed & Food Show”, the new DLG platform for agricultural and food systems of the future, will also take place in parallel for the first time. As the leading trade fair for decentralized energy supply, EnergyDecentral offers solutions for the current challenges of controlled environment agriculture, which primarily lie in the high energy costs for light, heat, ventilation and the continuous supply of water and nutrients.

Exhibitor registrations still possible
