This month Cayman has seen a host of riding activity at two of Cayman’s riding schools. Riders from The Equestrian Centre and Cayman Riding School took part in the third of this year’s National Dressage Shows. This show forms part of the National Dressage Championship Series and provided the opportunity for the riders at USDF B, C and USEF Training Level to gain points for the National Dressage Championship. In addition, riders were able to showcase talents in riding Freestyle tests.

USDF Judge Merri-Lynn Griffin presided over both venues. Ms Griffin, who is no stranger to Cayman, showed her delight at the development of Cayman’s young riders, some of whom she has seen show on different occasions over the years. She was encouraged to see so many young people know their tests thoroughly and produce some excellent results.

USDF Introductory Level B test (junior) was won by Isabella Finlay with an outstanding score of 72.5. USDF Training Level C test (junior) was won by Eva Muspratt on Oscar. The adult C test was won by Michelle Boucher. The highest score for USEF Training Level Test 1 (juniors) came from Meegan Slattery on Max with a score of 68.91, and Amara Thompson on Teddy Bear won the adult test with a score of 68.04. Eva Muspratt on Oscar won USEF Training Level 3 (juniors) with a score of 70.45. Other test winners for USEF included Anja Van Genderen on Kartouche, Amara Thompson on Rumour Has It, Phoebe Serpell on Sunday’s Edition, Polly Serpell on Calidad, Jessica McTaggart Giuzio on Loris 7, Thea Millward on Partenon and Ashley Van Den Bol on Kartouche.

High Point awards went to Eva Muspratt (juniors) and Thea Millward (adult).
Of note was the impressive performance produced by Kayla Mannisto (our youngest rider) on her new pony Jitterbug and Sharon Galloway’s first dressage outing on her horse Dublin Bay.

The next dressage show is this weekend on 30/31 May when CIEF hosts the Caribbean Equestrian Dressage Challenge and a National Dressage Show, again to be held over both venues. The Challenge competition will result in scores measured against Cayman’s Caribbean neighbours and one nation being crowned the Caribbean’s dressage stars. Spectators are welcome and entrance is free.
