Honduras to host 2017 CONCACAF Futsal Club Championship
Miami (Wednesday, July 19, 2017) – The Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) today announced that Honduras will host the 2017 CONCACAF Futsal Club Championship, scheduled for August 21- 26, 2017.
The invitational tournament, featuring eight of the region’s top FUTSAL clubs representing eight differentCONCACAF Member Associations, will be played in its entirety at the Universidad Pedagógica Nacional Francisco Morazán in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.
The eight clubs include three representatives from North America, Sporting Outlaws FC (CAN), Sidekicks (MEX) and Elite Futsal (USA). Teams from Central America are Grupo Line Futsal (CRC), Soyapango FC (SLV) and Universidad Pedagogica Nacional (HON), and the Caribbean region representatives are Habana (CUB) and FAX Futsal (GLP).
The official draw will take place at 12:00 PM ET, on Friday, July 21, at CONCACAF Headquarters in Miami Beach, FL, dividing the participating teams into two groups of four team each.
The inaugural edition of the CONCACAF Futsal Club Championship was played in 2014, in Guatemala City, Guatemala. Guatemala’s Glucosoral was crowned champion, besting Costa Rica’s Borussia in penalty kicks by a score of 5-4. Mexico’s Sidekicks and Cuba’s Habana will each make their second appearance in the Futsal Club Championship this year.

Competition Format: The eight (8) participating clubs will be sorted into two (2) groups of four (4). Honduras’s Universidad Pedagogica Nacional will be seeded in Group A as host of the championship and Grupo Line Futsal from Costa Rica will be seeded in Group B, as the best ranked CONCACAF Futsal federation in previous club competitions. Teams will play in round robin format for the group stage, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the semifinals. The semifinal winners will advance to the final.
