How much has changed?
From Paul McGowan From PS Audio
We often reminisce about the good old days. You remember. Back when there were only 3 networks on TV and the news had to be factual and without commercials, when predatory ambulance chasing lawyers weren’t allowed to advertise, when we didn’t have to suffer through commercials for drugs we don’t need or want.
No, back then we also had Crazy Eddie smashing stereo equipment, Cal Worthington and his dog Spot selling cars, and Gene Autry setting morality standards.
I constantly wonder if what seems crazy today wasn’t just as crazy back then—just the circumstances were different.
If we think about the stereo frenzy of back then versus now, in my memory, we audiophiles were just as obsessed: VPI Bricks, green pens, Tice Clocks, tri-amped systems, and an oasis of water driven turntables. Today’s craziness level seems the same just the circumstances are different.
I suspect the world turns at the same speed from the beginning to the end of our lives.
It just feels different from where we are viewing it.
