How to use a baker rack for kitchen
Pretty much any hardcore cook or baker is going to constantly complain about not having enough room in the kitchen. If you’ve seen a baker’s rack brilliantly used in another home, in person or on tv, you might be curious as to how you could make use of one of these in your own kitchen. Depending on where you feel the most restriction in your kitchen, there are a number of ways you might want to use it.
While extra kitchen storage might be the obvious answer, if you’re okay on storage there are some other great things you can do with a baker’s rack to free up counterspace and cabinet space elsewhere, where it is really needed. Check these baker rack for kitchen ideas.
Fit with a wine rack and make a bar
If you love wine or having cocktails with friends, a baker’s rack makes an excellent place to create a bar. You can store bottles of wine and other alcohol in a wine rack fitted to the baker’s rack, or you can sometimes find baker’s racks that already have a wine rack built into one shelf. If you have a lot of alcohol bottles cluttering up your cabinets or the top of your fridge, this is the option for you.
Make a breakfast and coffee station
Everyone enjoys their coffee and muffin before heading to work or school, but rarely does an entire household need to rise, eat, and leave at the same time. Use a baker’s rack to create a breakfast and coffee station. Choose a coffee machine that allows you to make individual cups of coffee (with reusable pods!) or that will hold coffee warm as everyone gets around for the day.
Everything you need to make the coffee, and anything one might want to put in it, should also be added to the baker’s rack. You can also add a plate warmer for cinnamon rolls or other hot breakfasts provided by the first to rise, or you can have a basket of protein bars, cereal bars, or toaster pastries for a bite on the go.
Backdoor entryway organization and drop off
Most kitchens feature a back door, or there is a back door very nearby. The back door of the home is often an area that needs attention. If you know you’re going to make a mess when you come in no matter what, you always go through the kitchen to avoid messing the carpets and such. But how are you going to get things off without making a mess of the kitchen as well?
A baker’s rack is a great addition to your entryway or mudroom. You can store anything you might need in the backyard or while out and about on the upper shelves, and use the lower rack to place shoes that need to be cleaned. Pair the baker’s rack with a storage bench so you can also have a place to sit and remove filthy clothing before entering the main part of the house.
