HURRICANE IAN Impacts the Arts
From Quiana Clark-Roland
AACT Executive Directortor & AACT staff
On behalf of the AACT staff, please know that we, along with the entire AACT family, have been watching with great concern the devastation that has taken place in Florida due to Hurricane Ian. We know that our thoughts and prayers have been joined by yours for the residents, first responders, businesses, and yes, AACT individual and organizational members that have been affected.
We are in discussions as to what ways we might be able to assist member theatres that have been seriously impacted by the storm and are working on identifying the theatres that may have been affected. At this time, we are already aware of the damage suffered by Venice Theatre, our aactWorldFest host theatre, and urge you to follow them on Facebook for up to date information on their recovery efforts and needs.
If you have first-hand knowledge of any AACT individuals or theatres affected by Ian, please send information to [email protected], subject: Ian’s Impact.
AACT staff will be attempting to contact those groups, and any others of which we become aware, next week. Given the intensity of the storm, we recognize that folks will need at least the first week following the storm’s departure to regroup, assess damages, and begin the process of recovery.
Once we’ve been able to collect as much information as possible, we’ll reach out again to provide an update and ways in which we in the AACT family can assist.
Until then, please continue to keep all those affected in your thoughts and prayers.
