H’View juniors on tour of Cayman Islands
The junior teams of the Harbour View Football Club were due in the Cayman Islands for a series of matches, plus community-related activities.
Having recently been crowned the champions of the KSAFA Under-13 league, the club was invited by the Academy Sports Club to take its Under-13 and Under-15 squads for a five-day tour.
The aim of the tour is to further promote cultural exchanges between Jamaica and the Cayman Islands, while promoting the use of football as a means to develop leadership in our young people, a release from the club said.
The Jamaican players were due to attend local schools yesterday, along with members of the host country’s teams. Jamaican players are expected to wear their respective school uniforms on this day.
As part of the tour, the Harbour View footballers will have an opportunity to visit the famed Cayman Islands Turtle Farm, where players can learn about the endangered sea turtle as well as explore the broader flora and fauna of the Cayman Islands.
They are also down for an interactive dolphin show. Players will also attend local churches with their host family on Sunday. Both teams were set to have matches yesterday, today and tomorrow.
The group will be led by Clyde Jureidini (head of delegation), Noel ‘Bobby’ McLaren (Under-13 coach), Andrew Hines (Under-15 coach), Karen Lumsden (manager), Gasford James Snr (manager), Tracy Lee (manager) and Monica Malcolm-McFarlane (manager).
