Import Duty Increase on Cigarettes and Alcohol

As part of the new Revenue Measures for the 2012/13 fiscal year, import duty will increase on cigarettes and alcohol effective Monday, 17th September 2012.

The import duty rate on cigarettes will increase to CI$210 per thousand cigarettes.

The import duty rate on alcohol will increase by 30 cents per litre for all alcohol including ale, beer, wines, champagne and spirits.

In addition to the import duty rate increase on cigarettes and alcohol, the Government will be charging a CI$100 inspection fee on all cargo containers and a fee of CI$2.00 per 100lbs or part thereof on all loose cargo and packages.

The new import duty rates and fees are effective Monday, 17th September 2012
