Guyana suspends air traffic controllers for breach
From Boston.com
GEORGETOWN, Guyana (AP) — The Ministry of Transport in Guyana says it has suspended an air traffic controller who walked off the job and left the tower unattended while a flight was approaching the South American country.
A statement issued by the ministry says the controller and two other staff members have been suspended pending an investigation.
A spokesman said Tuesday that the other two staff members who were suspended were a supervisor and a co-worker who had been scheduled to relieve the controller.
The controller walked off the job apparently out of frustration that his co-worker did not show up to relieve him Friday. At the time, a Caribbean Airways Boeing 737 with about 100 people on board was 10 minutes from landing. A manager went to the tower and took over.

Honeymoon fight forces emergency landing in Grand Cayman (UPDATED see below this story)
From stuff.co.nz
A groom on his honeymoon got into a drunken argument with his bride aboard a flight from Atlanta to Costa Rica, forcing the Delta Air Lines aircraft to make an emergency landing on Grand Cayman island, authorities say.
The US citizen was escorted from the flight after it landed by Cayman Islands police and was being held in custody on a charge of drunk and disorderly conduct, according to Royal Cayman Islands Chief Inspector Raymond Christian.
The bride remained aboard for the Sunday night flight (local time) to San Jose, Costa Rica, he said.
He did not name the bride or the groom involved in the incident other than to say the groom was a US citizen.
The removed passenger could face further charges under the international air law, according to Christian.
Delta spokeswoman Lindsay McDuff confirmed that a “disruptive customer” prompted the crew of flight 901 to divert to Grand Cayman.
“The flight landed without incident and the customer was met by local authorities,” McDuff said.
It was the second time in recent weeks that the airline had reportedly performed an emergency landing because of drunken behaviour by a passenger.
On February 7 a Delta flight from Baltimore to Salt Lake City was diverted due to an unruly female passenger who was described by officials as intoxicated.

121 overseas pros in CPL draft
From Trinidad Express
The Caribbean Premier League (CPL) has confirmed that 228 players have registered for the 2014 draft, which will take place in Kingston, Jamaica, on Thursday April 3.
The number includes 121 overseas players, more than five times the number that entered the 2013 draft.
Over 100 Caribbean players have thrown their hats into the ring in the hope of earning a contract to take part in the second edition of the tournament.
A CPL press release yesterday stated that 98 per cent of the players from the 2013 edition of the competition will be back this year.
Players from 11 nations, including Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, and, for the first time, England will be part of the tournament.
Australia will have the largest overseas contingent in the draft with 30 names, including 15 internationals, while the vast majority of Pakistan’s T20 World Cup squad have also signed up.
New Zealand, South Africa and Sri Lanka are also well represented, and the draft will include several current and former international captains, leading test stars, T20 specialists and limited overs stalwarts.
The full list of players will be announced to the public next week.
Commenting on the upcoming draft, CPL director of cricket, Tom Moody said: “The quality and quantity of players registering for the draft, in particular the huge surge in overseas players signing up, is testament to the great success of last year’s competition. The high standard of cricket and the unique Caribbean carnival atmosphere have made CPL the competition that everybody wants to play in.”
