Morton, Mich. US – drinking water problems

The Village of Morton is currently evaluating it”s optimal corrosion control treatment plan which is essential in complying with the lead and copper rule. We have had an optimal corrosion control treatment plan for years to lower the copper in the wastewater effluent. Since improving the water treatment process over the last several years we needed to re-evaluate this plan to effectively deal with the change in corrosivity in the drinking water as it relates to leaching from pipes. The Village of Morton continues to take every step necessary to lower the copper and lead even below the limits established by the IEPA. Until lead and copper piping and appurtenances are completely removed from residences, this will continue to be the most effective method used to deal with lead and copper. I felt this information should have been added to this article as the ending paragraph leads readers to believe that Morton is not taking responsibility for the water. Craig Loudermilk

EDITOR: The above was incorrectly added as a comment on our Editorial re my use of the term ‘Copper’ to a police officer. The comment piqued my interest and their are a number of articles on the Internet addressing the above..

Cayman Islands Health Services Authority (HSA) and the Public Health Department report 60 cases of hand, foot and mouth disease

It has been revealed there is 60 cases of hand, foot and mouth disease on Grand Cayman.

The Cayman Islands Health Services Authority (HSA) and the Public Health Department are working together to closely monitor and mitigate against the disease.

The virus is very contagious and parents whose children are infected must keep them at home to reduce further spread of the disease. Only until blisters have dried up, there are no new blisters and no fever for at least 24 hours may children return to school.

Early symptoms may include fever and a sore throat. Painful blisters similar to cold sores can show up on the inside of your child’s mouth or on his tongue.

The child might get a rash on the palms of his hands or the soles of his feet a day or two after the first symptoms appear. This rash may turn into blisters. Flat spots or sores may pop up on the knees, elbows, or buttocks. The child could have all of these symptoms, or only one or two.

Mouth sores can make it hurt to swallow, so be sure your child gets enough water and calories.

CANADA: Trudeau’s dinner invite to Khalistan separatist revoked

A day after Justin Trudeau assured Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh that Canada didn’t support any separatist movement, the Khalistan issue has come to haunt the visiting Prime Minister.

A huge controversy erupted when news emerged that an invitation has been extended to Khalistan separatist Atwal, who was also convicted of attempted assassination in Canada in 1987, for the reception to be held at the residence of Canadian High Commissioner Nadir Patel in New Delhi on Thursday.

Compelled to take cognisance of the matter, the High Commission later rescinded the invitation.

“This individual( Khalistani terrorist Jaspal Atwal) should never have been invited to any event on the program, and his invitation has been rescinded. We are in the process of looking into how this occurred,” the Canada PMO said in a statement.
