Senegalese Migrant Arrested as Suspect in Death of American in Florence, Italy

A young Senegalese man was arrested late Wednesday night for the alleged murder of 35-year-old Ashley Olsen, the American discovered strangled to death in her apartment, Italian authorities said.
Eyewitnesses told authorities that they saw Olsen and the suspect, named by the general prosecutor in Florence as Cheik Tidiane Diaw, leaving Florence’s Montecarla club in the early hours of Friday morning and walking to her apartment. Video from security cameras along the route corroborated what the witnesses saw, according to Italian police.
Céline Dion’s Husband René Angélil Dies at 73

Celine Dion’s husband René Angélil has died at the age of 73, ABC News has confirmed.
Angélil, who has been married to the famed singer since 1994, had been battling cancer for some time.
“René Angélil, 73, passed away this morning at his home in Las Vegas after a long and courageous battle against cancer,” a rep for the couple told People magazine. “The family requests that their privacy be respected at the moment; more details will be provided at a later time.”

US tourist denounces rape in Puerto Viejo

A U.S. woman, age 27, filed a criminal complaint against a man who she says raped her last Sunday on a beach in the southern Caribbean town of Puerto Viejo, according to the Judicial Investigation Police (OIJ).
On Tuesday night, National Police officers in Limón province arrested a local resident with the last names Santos Hernández, 38, as the main suspect.
The man was identified after OIJ agents reviewed footage from a security camera at a bar, where both the victim and suspect had been before the alleged rape. The video shows the suspect approaching the victim.
OIJ said Santos has a criminal record associated with rape.
The police report states that the attack occurred last Sunday at around 3 a.m. on a beach near the bar where the suspect approached the victim. According to the statement “the man forced the tourist to leave the bar, [and] took her to the beach, where he allegedly raped her.”
The Prosecutor’s Office said Thursday morning that a criminal court in the Caribbean canton of Bribri ordered preventive prison for three months against the suspect while OIJ agents proceed with the investigation.

Tesla Model S deliveries soared at the end of 2015

The electric car maker easily set an all-time delivery record.
If cautious trade magazines and long-term reliability reports spooked any would-be Tesla Model S buyers, you wouldn’t know it from the delivery numbers. The automaker says that it delivered 17,192 units of the electric sedan in the fourth quarter of 2015, easily setting a delivery record — that’s 48 percent more than its previous best (the third quarter), and 75 percent more than what it managed last year. Tesla shipped a total of 50,580 EVs last year, which is behind its original goal (roughly 53,000) but better than some analysts expected.
Just don’t expect to see many Model X SUVs cruising the streets right now. Not surprisingly, Tesla only made 507 units of the still-fresh vehicle this fall, and delivered 208 of them. The real test will come this year, once production (and presumably, demand) ramps up. It could be many months from now before it’s clear whether the Model X is another hit or an also-ran.

The Creek Seventh-day Adventist church in Cayman Brac presents Convention 2016 under the theme, Nearing Home, to be held on the weekend of January 15-17, 2016. There will be a Dynamic and powerful speaker, Pastor Henry Wright out of Maryland USA. It’s a weekend of worship and praise at the Aston Rutty Center Cayman Brac.
