Two patients sue Cayman Islands private hospital
LOOP NEWS are reporting a woman is suing the Chrissie Tomlinson Memorial Hospital for negligence after being transported to the George Town Hospital for alternative medical care.
Michelle Campbell Myles McField named the hospital and two doctors in her claim, where she is suing for damages sustained, loss, as well as pain and suffering.
According to writ of sermons filed under cause G0042 of 2016, McField through her lawyers Dennis E Brady, alleges that on November 4, 2014 the two doctors were negligent.
In another writ filed under cause G0041 Albert Rankin is suing the same hospital and a doctor for negligence.
The doctor is accused of negligently performing an operation on the plaintiff’s knee and leaving a metal screw embedded in the area on August 6, 2014.
According to the writ, the patient went through painful experience and had to undergo another surgery on the same knee.

St. Patrick’s Day and Irish in the Caribbean

Two more days in the Brac for NWDA
Representatives from the National Workforce Development Agency (NWDA) are available to meet employers and job seekers on Cayman Brac through the end of the week. Staff will assist with online registration, resume preparation and other job search activities from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Thursday 17th March and from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. on Friday 18th March. Workshops on time management and employer expectations are set for 9 a.m.-noon and 2-5 p.m. on Thursday. On Friday the NWDA and the National Scholarships Programme will attend the career fair at E. Layman Scott Sr High School. Appointments can be made by calling 945-3114 or 926-2713. Walk-ins are welcome.
Cayman Islands: NGCI Hosts EN MAS’ Lecture
The National Gallery of the Cayman Islands is hosting its “History of Carnival” special lecture on Thursday, 24 March 2016. The lecture is in conjunction with the NGCI’s current exhibition EN MAS’: Carnival and Performance Art of the Caribbean.
Interested persons will learn about the fascinating and complex history of Caribbean Carnival with the Artistic Director of the Cayman National Cultural Foundation, Henry Muttoo.
The 90 minute lecture is free and open to the public, beginning at 6:00pm.

Children’s Film Competition Registration Extended
The Cayman National Cultural Foundation (CNCF) has extended its registration deadline for students wishing to enter their short films in the Young Image Makers (YIM) competition.
Budding filmmakers can now submit their entries now through Wednesday, 13th April, 2016.
The Foundation is allowing students more time over the Easter holidays to work on their films.

Minister Marion Hall heads to Grand Cayman
High profile dancehall artiste turned gospel minister, Marion Hall, formerly known as Lady Saw is heading to Cayman.
Hall is scheduled to perform at Concert at the Lion Center in Grand Cayman on June 5.
“I will be there in the name of Jesus,” said Hall on Instagram as she shared a promotional flyer for the event.
Hall is also expected to make her gospel debut overseas from March 25-27.

Take our Daughters and Sons to Work Day
In an effort to organise activities that embody this year’s Honouring Women’s Month theme, “Step it Up for Gender Equality” the Family Resource Centre (FRC) is encouraging employers from various fields and all levels of employees to participate in Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day throughout the month of March.
The main purpose of this event is to educate the youth on various career options and to empower them to pursue careers without the boundaries of traditional gender stereotypes.
