London’s black cabs become moving traffic billboards

Black cabs are being fitted with digital signage that broadcasts traffic warnings.
Driving around London can be nightmarish at the best of times, but no more so than when you end up sandwiched in an inescapable gridlock. Transport for London’s latest tech trial is hoping to make journeys though the capital that bit more pleasant, by using taxi-top signage that tells nearby vehicles where to avoid. Kicking off last December, the six-month experiment sees 200 of London’s finest black cabs fitted with digital advertising boards that also broadcast live traffic warnings. For now they’re able to give you a heads-up on delays in up to London 50 areas, but should the signage be more widely deployed, the idea is to provide richer, real-time updates on congestion as traffic jams are taking shape. Whether we can get our Uber drivers to take the cautionary advice on board? Probably not.

Six arrested for Possession of Dangerous Drugs with the Intent to Supply

“DANGEROUS DRUGS ARREST – GRAND BAHAMA”
Police in Grand Bahama have in their custody six males, four Bahamian and two Jamaican Nationals for Possession of Dangerous Drugs with the Intent to Supply.
Reports are that on Wednesday 6th January 2016 shortly after 4:00pm, Officers of the Drug Enforcement Unit executed a search warrant on a home located in Freeport, where they discovered a quantity of suspected marijuana. All six males were arrested and taken into police custody.
Police are actively investigating this matter.

The next staging of the Permanent Residence course for persons planning to sit the exam, will be from January 16- February 7 at UCCI. The course can be taken Saturdays or Sundays. If you are living in Cayman Brac, you can take the course at the UCCI Camus there. Registration is currently underway.

The New Year starts off on an exciting note with a carnival launch celebration and this month also features Cayman’s biggest culinary event, Taste of Cayman. There are many enrichment activities, including a free juicing demonstration and a chance to express your creativity with an open mic night of poetry and readings.
