The automotive industry is currently facing a massive upheaval like no other sector. Increasing digitalization, climate change and artificial intelligence are challenging manufacturers, workshops and dealerships and are making new technological developments more important than ever. How innovative the industry is facing up to this challenge is also evident these days in the applications for the Innovation Awards at Automechanika Frankfurt. A total of 153 new technological solutions were submitted – divided into nine categories.

Including two new categories this year: Electromobility & Innovative Drive Technologies and AI & Digitalization, which accounted for around 20 percent of the submissions. There were only more entries for the categories Workshop & Service Solutions and Parts & Innovative Technologies, for which more than half of all applications were submitted. The remaining applications were spread across the other categories of Data & Networking, Body & Paint, Vehicle Wash & Care, Accessories & Customization and Commercial Vehicles

We spoke to some of the award winners as well as other promising innovative companies and asked them what has been their biggest innovation in recent months.
