The idea to host a car show, began as the concept to have a 10 year anniversary show since the first one was held in 2003 at Safe Haven. In order to make this an all-encompassing and valuable show for our partners, our show entrants, and our audience, it was decided that a New Year show in January 2014 would best accomplish the following objectives:
Demonstrate a passion for the sport.
Enhance the local auto industry profile.
Focus on Cayman and everything auto-related.
Showcase Cayman as a top destination for the auto industry.
Get the local community involved, as well as fostering an international perspective.
The all-day event, hosted by Tony’s Toys, stated there will be at least 100 European, American and Japanese cars, motorcycles and trucks on display. The show will be family-friendly complete with a Kids Zone, Heels & Wheels area for women, a VIP area and a Food Court. In addition to the cars on display, there will be various auto industry-related companies such as banks and insurance companies that will showcase their products and services. Local dealers will also be displaying their latest models.
“The Cayman Islands International Car Show will be the biggest car show Cayman has ever seen with the most cars on display, and the most exhibitors and businesses taking part of any car show hosted in Cayman before,” said Tony Williams of Tony’s Toys. “This is a great opportunity for car enthusiasts to get exposure for their vehicles, and of course the chance to obtain bragging rights is always an incentive.”
International judges will be adjudicating the competition portion of the event, and exhibitors have a chance to win in 10 different categories, including Truck, Luxury Car, Sport, Compact, JDM (Japanese Domestic Market), Custom, Classic, Race Car, Modified, Motorcycle – Sport and Motorcycle – Cruiser and an overall Best in Show award that will be decided by the public. Several auto industry magazines will be coming to cover the event. To date, these include European Car and Import Tuner.
“This event is for the entire family, and we promise that everyone will be entertained. Plus there is an opportunity for potential car buyers to talk about financing to the banks that will be exhibiting and get information about car insurance options from the insurance companies on hand as well as be educated about how to safely enhance their vehicles.”
Registration is now open for the Cayman Islands International Car Show and Williams encourages all individuals with unique, classic, interesting, race or modified vehicles to enter.
“There are currently multiple car, truck and motorcycle categories, and we encourage you to enter now as space is limited,” explains Williams. “We also still have booths available if there are companies interested in participating or having their business involved in this fantastic event.”
